An RTC or Residential Treatment Center is a government (state) licensed institution that specializes in helping teens with behaviors that require professional Counseling and behavior modification. These centers work with parents or caretakers to help identify changes that need to be made in the home and community to support their troubled teen in effecting a permanent change. Teens work with Mental Health professionals to create a safe environment while stabilizing their condition or individual symptoms. Parents and care givers should know that an RTC is a 24 hour psychiatric treatment program with appropriate structure and supervision.
